About Me

Hello to you, little internet wanderer and welcome to my blog!

I created this blog originally as a bit of stress relief to fill my time when I wasn’t crazily working towards my degree or sleeping, which felt like the only two things I did during my three years at uni! I’d been thinking about starting this up for a while, and had hoped I would be able to keep it up for more than just a couple of weeks – it seems that I have done quite well on that front!

Anyway, a bit more personally, my name is Holly and I’m 25 years old. I’m quite proud to be able to say I was born and raised in good old Pastyland (that’s Cornwall to all you Emmets) which I think will always be one of my favourite places to be, no matter where I end up in the future.

I’ve recently graduated from Cardiff University with a First Class degree in English Language (BA Hons). It was such a fab experience – although I really enjoyed the course itself, it was all the people I met and getting used to city life which made a lasting impression. I loved Cardiff so much that I stayed there working for a few years after uni! During lockdown, however, I realised how much I missed Cornwall, living around the corner from my family and always being within walking distance of a beach and so I decided to up and move back.

After graduating, I worked as an Editorial Assistant Intern at Style of the City magazine. I loved creating content, reviewing books and restaurants and learning a lot about the world of business, publishing and myself! To see some of my articles, visit my Roll On 2019 post and http://www.styleofthecitymag.co.uk/ .

Although I loved working at the magazine, I was only able to be there for a couple of months. Since moving on, I have worked in several Reception & Reservations roles within the hospitality industry. I have most recently worked for a foreign currency brokers which was a completely new challenge, but am now looking for a role better suited to my passions – books, reading and writing. I am currently searching for a permanent role within the publishing industry and really look forward to getting stuck back in.

In my free time, I love to walk along the beach searching for sea glass, cuddle up with a good book (click here to follow me on Goodreads) and spend time cooking and playing board games with my husband.

Anyway, enough of me chattering on. I hope you like my blog enough to follow my adventures and thoughts, wherever they make take me. Expect a lot of Cornish recommendations, book reviews and general life musings. I will be posting a new blog entry every Thursday. Thanks for following along.
